A specific animal that inhabits this biome is the coyote. The coyote is at the top os the foodchain. The sun produces the engergy that keeps the plants alive, and the mouse feeds off of the plants and the coyote eats the mouse. After the coyote dies it decomposes into the soil and the cycle begins all over again.

in the temperate grasslands the length of the growing season is determined by temperature. In the winter, grassland temperatures can be as low as -40° Farenheit, and in the summer it can be as high 70° Farenheit. Plants usually start growing when the daily temperature reached about 50° Farenheit.
